Police want the public to help them piece together what happened to Upper Hutt woman Cushla Rachael Braddock before her body was pulled from a Hutt Valley river.
A group of youths found the body of the 28-year-old in the Hutt River at Pomare, 13km south of Upper Hutt, on Tuesday night, two days after she was reported missing.
Her death was not being treated as suspicious but police wanted to hear from anyone who could help piece together her movements before she died.
"Our investigation is focused on reconstructing Cushla's movements prior to her very unfortunate death. I thank members of the public who have provided valuable information, but more is required," Senior Sergeant Jason McCarthy of Upper Hutt police said today.
"We need to know what happened in the two days before she was found."
Ms Braddock often walked along the Hutt River banks, visited shops in Upper Hutt and Queensgate Mall in Lower Hutt and used public transport to travel there and to Wellington.
Preliminary results from a post-mortem determined she probably drowned.
She was last seen leaving her home on Sunday about 4pm, wearing a grey T-shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers.
Her death has been referred to the coroner.
