Rotorua police were today seeking public help in their hunt for two armed men who robbed the Westpac Bank branch at Ngongotaha yesterday.
One of the men had a shotgun and another a pistol as they confronted two staff before making off with an undisclosed sum of cash.
Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Tony Colby said police were seeking information from the public that would assist the inquiry.
The offenders fled the scene in a stolen silver Subaru Legacy station wagon, registration BST107.
Mr Colby said the movements of the two men after they abandoned the vehicle a short distance from the bank was not known.
The offender carrying the shotgun was described as a Maori or Pacific Islander, 20 to 30, about 1.8m tall and of medium build.
The other man was described as being shorter than his co-offender.
