KEY POINTS:
Queenstown police are appealing to the public for information relating to the alleged robbery of two English tourists on Saturday night.
The men, aged 21 and 22, reported being attacked and robbed by eight New Zealand men on Lake Esplanade about 11.50pm.
The visitors said they were both knocked to the ground, and each had a digital camera and wallet taken. One man also had his cellphone taken.
They were unable to describe their attackers, other than being well-dressed, and could not suggest why they had been attacked.
The men said that before the attack, they had been drinking for about four to five hours when one of them was ejected from a Queenstown bar.
Police said there were no public closed-circuit TV cameras in the area and they were appealing to shopkeepers who might have footage of foot traffic on Shotover Street, Beach Street, or Lake Esplanade, to contact them.
