Police are hunting a gang prospect suspected of being involved in kidnapping a man and slashing him across the face and body with a Stanley knife.
The wanted man, Mossy Hines, 29, could have access to firearms and should not be approached, said Detective Senior Sergeant Gary Lendrum.
The victim was a 40-year-old Otahuhu man who was picked up on Great South Rd last Thursday by two men.
He was taken to a garage in Mt Wellington, where a third man was waiting, and subjected to a "brutal assault and slashing", Mr Lendrum said. "Firstly he was assaulted and then slashed across his face, chest and arm ..."
The injured man, who was known to the group, was driven by a fourth person to a medical centre.
Hines, a Head Hunters prospect, is thought to be hiding in south and east Auckland.
There is also a warrant for his arrest for failing to appear in the Auckland District Court for sentencing on a charge of driving while disqualified.
Mr Lendrum said Hines should not be approached. Any sightings can be reported to the Papakura police on 09 295 0200.
