Police are calling for witnesses after a suspicious fire at a Napier warehouse early yesterday.
The Fire Service was called to the blaze on Lever St, Ahuriri, about 5.45am, a Napier Fire Station spokesman said.
He said the warehouse was undamaged by the fire, but a flat attached to it had been completely gutted.
Police arrested a 36-year-old man at the scene for obstructing the firefighters.
Fire safety officers and police conducted a scene examination yesterday and have said the fire is being treated as suspicious.
Anyone who was in the Lever Street area between 5am and 6am yesterday was asked to contact police.
