A van driver who ran a red light and hit a mobility scooter in Levin is being sought by police.
The 73-year-old woman scooter rider escaped injury, but damage to the scooter was estimated at $1500.
The woman was crossing Oxford St about 3.49pm yesterday with the pedestrian lights when hit by a white van travelling north at about 50km/h, Levin Constable Rochelle Taylor said.
"The van initially slowed, then continued heading north...an eyewitness has run alongside the van and whacked on the driver's window, but the driver of the van failed to stop," Ms Taylor said.
The van was described as a white 1983-85 Toyota which had no seats in the back and was dusty.
It may have sustained panel damage to the nearside rear wheel arch, and it may have blue paint on it from the scooter.
Ms Taylor said the victim was not hurt, but was suffering shock.
