Police search for owner of abandoned canoe

Police are urgently trying to trace the owner of a blue canoe and shoes and socks found floating in the Hutt River this morning.

The canoe was spotted about 11.30am close to Mill St, Lower Hutt. A pair of shoes and socks were floating in the river beside it, said Inspector Paul Jermy.

The canoe was pulled ashore by police who appealed to the public for help in tracing its owner.
