KEY POINTS:
A search is underway for a whitebaiter who was last seen about 1.30pm today near the Ruamahanga River in Wairarapa.
The missing 78-year-old was approximately 7km upstream from the rivermouth at Lake Ferry, police said.
A number of police staff and locals are conducting the search on jetskis and a helicopter is also scouring the area.
