KEY POINTS:
A 54 year old South Otago woman has gone missing in the Tautuku area south of Owaka and Balclutha.
She was last seen when she went for a walk at 10am on January 3.
The woman has grey hair and was wearing a yellow parka and gym shoes.
Police and search and rescue personnel have been searching throughout the night.
A helicopter was used to search an area she was thought to have been walking in but failed to locate her.
Ground parties began searching the area at first light this morning.
