Queenstown Police are searching for 23-year-old Frenchwoman Emilie Pace, who has been staying at backpackers' accommodation in the Central Otago-Southland region.
Her family have not heard from her since January 23. Ms Pace is described as slim with shoulder-length brown hair.
It is believed Ms Pace intended to walk the Milford Track or travel to either Stewart Island or Dunedin.
