Police are appealing for sightings of a Blenheim man reported missing near Lake Waikaremoana in northern Hawke's Bay.
Glyn Davis, 55, was last seen at Department of Conservation national park headquarters at Aniwaniwa, at the eastern end of the lake, on October 8.
Several searches of the area since then have failed to find any sign of him and police say they have fears for his safety as he was poorly equipped for the conditions and weather in the area has been poor.
"We're very keen to hear of any sightings of Mr Davis either in the Wairoa area around October 8 or in the national park bush area," said Senior Sergeant Tony Bates of Wairoa police.
"It's possible trampers or hunters may have come across him during their travels and it's important we trace his movements."
Mr Davis is described as a caucasian of slim build, 198cm tall with short grey hair and a grey beard. He was last seen wearing trackpants, a green top, sneakers, and was carrying a small backpack.
Mr Bates said the search for Mr Davis had been hampered by conflicting information.
"It appears Mr Davis had been telling different people different versions of where he was going and what he was doing. The information we have received has been inconsistent and it's taken some time for us to sort through everything," he said.
Wairoa police ask anyone who saw Mr Davis in the Wairoa-Lake Waikaremoana area in the last few weeks to contact them.
