Police say speed factor in fatal crash

A man died in a head-on collision in West Auckland yesterday. Police said speed appeared to be a factor in the crash at the intersection of Woodbank Drive and West Coast Rd, Glen Eden, at 5pm.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to Waitakere Hospital in a serious condition.

Earlier, an 11-year-old girl was critically injured when a vehicle hit her on East Tamaki Rd, Otara. Late last night the Starship hospital said she was stable, though still seriously ill.
