Police say a South Auckland man died from natural causes in the front yard at an Onehunga address last night , not as a result of a fist fight as earlier reported.
A post mortem examination was carried out today on 54-year-old Atonio Mulipola who died at the Mt Smart Road address in Onehunga at 7pm last night.
Police spokeswoman Noreen Hegarty said Mr Mulipola died of natural causes as a result of an existing medical condition.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Benefield said the police investigation would now be scaled down to that of a sudden death inquiry on behalf of the Coroner.
Police launched a homicide inquiry last night after it was reported a punch-up had taken place outside the house.
