KEY POINTS:
Police today said a woman found dead in a flat, apparently after a ceremony was held, had scratches and bruising on her body.
Officers are still tying to determine the cause of death of Janet Moses, 22.
They found her dead on a bed, after family members called police to the Wellington Rd, Wainuiomata, house on Friday night.
A postmortem found no internal injuries but Lower Hutt police said she had superficial scratches and bruising on her body.
Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Levy of Lower Hutt CIB said this week that "some kind of ceremony" involving a large number of family members took place at the house before she was found dead.
Officers had not yet established what the gathering was about, but there was nothing to suggest it had religious connotations, police said.
A neighbour said Ms Moses had some greenstone that had not been blessed, and a priest or elder was at the house the night she died.
Police have this week been completing a scene examination and speaking with the large group of extended family and friends who had contact with Ms Moses in the days leading up to her death.
