Police have arrested two people and launched a homicide investigation after a man died in the Auckland suburb of Mt Wellington.
Emergency services were called to the suburb around 1.30pm after reports of a person being stabbed at a Tomuri Pl address.
Acting Field Crime Manager, Detective Inspector Simon Harrison said Police were notified that a fight had taken place at the property, during which a man received critical injuries.
“The man was pronounced dead at the scene,” police said.
“We know this may have been a shock to the community, but we would like to reassure people that this appears to be an isolated incident,” Harrison said.
An increased police presence will remain in the area and cordons will be in place while the scene examination continues.
At this stage, police are not in a position to release details of the deceased.
A witness has told of how he saw the fatal struggle before a man and a woman sat down and waited for police to arrive.
