Police have ruled out several suspects after a sexual assault at a Lower Hutt train station.
A 16-year-old girl was approached by a man in the underground walkway at Waterloo station about 4.30pm on January 26.
The man followed the girl, grabbed her, and pushed her up against a wall before forcibly kissing her on the lips, police said.
She managed to escape the man but was shaken by the incident.
Lower Hutt Senior Sergeant Steve Harwood today told NZPA police had ruled out some suspects and were still seeking information.
The man was described as Polynesian, between 30 and 40 years old, of stocky build and average height. Police believe he may have caught a southbound train to Waterloo prior to the victim catching the 4.52pm service to Masterton.
He was unshaven and wearing a white-coloured hooded sweatshirt with a black design and black jeans.
In July last year, a couple were attacked in the same underground tunnel by four men in their late teens or early 20s.
While witnesses reported the incident to police, the victims did not come forward.
