Police are reminding motorists to carry their driver licence this long weekend.
Police will be out, enforcing a 4km/h speed tolerance level, safe following distances, and driver licence conditions.
National Road Policing Manager Superintendent Paula Rose said the would also be using new devices which allow police to scan licences.
"And find out whether your licence is current, whether there are any outstanding matters that police need to talk to you about, or whether you're one of those people who to be honest, shouldn't be driving because you've got lots of demerit points, or your driving out of the conditions of your graduated licence,'' he said.
Eight people died on the roads over Labour weekend last year, and 125 people were injured.
