Police have released a CCTV image of an offender who robbed a bank in the Manawatu town of Feilding yesterday, claiming he had a gun.
Police said the man told a cashier at the Kiwibank branch on Goodbehere St he wanted to withdraw a large sum of cash and would return later to give them time to prepare it.
He returned at 1.25pm and "told a female cashier that he had a gun and to hand over cash", said police.
The man then made off with up to $4000.
Police are appealing to the public for information. They said the man was described as "in his 30s, Maori, with long dark hair tied in a ponytail".
He wore a dark v-neck jumper, dark trousers and high high-heeled boots and "could easily be mistaken as a female".
Anyone with information about the robbery should contact Feilding police on 06 323 6363.
