Police investigating the slaying of Wanganui two-year-old Karl Perigo-Check are refusing to say how he died.
"The exact nature of Karl's injuries remain undisclosed due to the sensitive nature of the investigation," Detective Inspector Chris Bensemann said today.
"The focus of the investigation over the next few days will be the interviewing of family members and associates, who are all cooperating with police.
The boy, son of jailed Wanganui gang member Karl Check, died of "critical injuries" on October 24.
Police had completed their examination of the addresses of interest and had completed a large number of their inquiries, Mr Bensemann said.
The dead child's father is serving life with a non-parole period of 15 years for the 2007 murder of two-year-old Jhia Te Tua during an altercation between the Mongrel Mob and Black Power gangs.
The boy's tangi was held at Ranana Marae, north of Wanganui, last Friday.
