Police have recovered the body of an elderly Asian man found near a motorway in the middle of Wellington.
Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Miller said the body was found on a grass area at the bottom of a 30m wall next to the Tinakori Road motorway off-ramp shortly after midday.
"We are treating the death as unexplained at this stage until a post-mortem examination is carried out but we are not seeking anyone else in connection to the incident,'' he said in a statement.
Police wanted to hear from motorists or office workers on The Terrace nearby who may have witnessed anything in the area shortly before midday.
