KEY POINTS:
When police raided a Te Atatu North property this week they uncovered an eclectic range of items, from carved chairs to builders' tools.
Though police cannot say definitively that the goods have been stolen, Constable Chris Young of Henderson is confident a person "associated" with the lock-up where the gear was found is not entirely above board.
"Police haven't been in touch with him, and he hasn't been in touch with police.
"Our theory is that it's not necessarily the person who put the gear there who has stolen it, but there's been some swapping and trading going on."
Police are having trouble proving the goods are stolen, as members of the public have yet to report most of the items as stolen.
Among other items recovered are miniature motorbikes, outboard motors and computers.
For any musicians who have had equipment stolen, there are seven microphones, five guitars and an electric drum kit amongst the items waiting to be claimed.
There is diving gear and a blue dinner set that is "packed for moving".
The dinner set could be valuable, because a number of pieces have been broken and been glued together, Ms Young said.
If any of the goods sound familiar, call Henderson police on 839 0617.
