KEY POINTS:
The armed offenders squad (AOS) today swooped on the Hastings Mongrel Mob headquarters looking for men wanted in relation to a vicious attack on Sunday.
Detective Sergeant Mike Foster said a 34-year-old man was hospitalised after being assaulted at the headquarters. He was recovering in Wellington Hospital after undergoing surgery for internal injuries yesterday.
Mr Foster said a large police contingent, including the AOS, executed a search warrant at the Kotuku Street, Camberley, headquarters at 1pm.
A 36-year-old man was arrested and will appear in Hastings District Court tomorrow charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Two other men are also sought in connection with the incident.
Police remained at the headquarters this afternoon.
Police still want to hear from the public in relation to three other gang-related assaults in Flaxmere over the past two weeks.
A 21-year-old man was beaten about the head and body when he opened his front door to four men on Sunday.
His partner grabbed her newborn baby and hid in a room to escape.
The offenders were wearing red and black and were believed to be affiliated to a local youth gang.
Mongrel Mob members attacked a man on Friday while he was walking past a house in suburban Camberley and the previous Sunday a man was bashed at a birthday party in the same suburb.
Following the assaults, police warned gang members they would be cracking down on violent behaviour.
