Police are still questioning residents of a Parnell apartment complex in the hope of learning more about an incident in which a woman says she was doused in petrol and set alight.
The 53-year-old rang police in the early hours of Wednesday, saying she had been kidnapped from outside her Parnell home, driven to the Auckland Domain and set alight.
She was taken to Middlemore Hospital with superficial burns to her face and shoulders.
Detective Sergeant Brett Batty said police were able to interview her on Thursday night for the first time since she was taken to hospital.
Her recollection of the events was the same as when she first called police.
Detective Sergeant Batty said investigations, including an area canvass of her Parnell apartment block, continued and he could add little more.
The woman yesterday remained in Middlemore's burns unit in a stable condition.
Her black BMW was destroyed in the fire, which she says was lit by a man who doused her and the car in petrol before running from the Domain.
