Sharp-eyed members of the public have won police praise after a series of arrests relating to vehicle crimes in Wellington this morning.
Senior Sergeant Quentin Ward, of Wellington's district command centre, said public vigilance helped police make six arrests across the district this morning.
The first occurred at 7am, when police were told a woman was breaking into a car in Woodridge. The woman was arrested with the assistance of a dog handler and bailed to appear in Wellington District Court on Friday.
Forty minutes later police received reports of youths breaking into a vehicle in Wainuiomata. Residents helped police find two people and court appearances are pending.
In the suburb of Mount Cook, police on patrol when a member of the public reported a man breaking into a vehicle on Nairn Street.
