Police say they cannot fathom why a Rotorua teen has suddenly gone missing, as concerns for his health deepen.
Matthew Wong, 16, has not been since shortly after noon Thursday, when he left his home to sit an exam at Rotorua Boys' High School.
Acting Senior Sergeant Mike Membery of Rotorua police said Matthew had missed a medical appointment on Thursday and police had serious concerns for his health.
"Our concern is around his medical wellbeing and getting him as soon as possible to a medical practitioner to get him checked out.''
Mr Membery would not disclose details of his illness, but said the teen needed treatment at Rotorua Hospital, with further treatment at Starship Hospital in Auckland a possibility.
