Police reinforcements patrolled Tokoroa streets overnight after a gang brawl involving up to 20 people last night.
One gang member is in hospital with a serious head wound and three others were arrested after the fight, involving two local criminal gangs, broke out about 7pm.
Up to 20 gang members wielded weapons including machetes, hammers, bats, and tomahawks during the fight on Hinau St, police said.
Extra police were called in from nearby Putaruru to help local officers at the scene.
Officers from Taupo were later called to patrol the area amid fears a revenge attack was planned.
