Police are following strong leads on the three men who robbed a Gull service station this morning in New Lynn, west Auckland.
Detective sergeant Roger Small of Henderson police said they had received information they hoped would identify the offenders.
"We have some strong avenues of inquiry and hopefully we will be able to identify them, but there's not going to be an arrest today."
Three men entered the service station at 4.10am, and one of the men threatened the lone attendant with a steel bar.
Mr Small said the weapon was never used on the attendant, but the person was "shaken up" after the incident.
He said the robbers took off with the till contents and other undisclosed items.
Police later located the offenders burnt out vehicle, which was stolen.
The men were described as Polynesians in their early 20s.
One was of solid build, about 183cm tall and wearing a white t-shirt with a hoodie style cap, black pants and black shoes.
The other two men were of similar build and wearing white t-shirts, light pants and white shoes.
