Police in Christchurch say they are on the trail of a man who threatened two prostitutes in the central city early this morning.
The man is believed to have approached the sex workers in Manchester St from his car just after midnight.
Police located the vehicle in Alexandra St, Richmond, and cordoned several streets, but the man was believed to have left the area on foot.
Details of the threats were sketchy, but police said no one was injured in the incident.
Detective Sergeant Mark Reid said the man was not thought to be a danger to the public and police were "following a line of inquiry".
