A man presented a small handgun to a dairy owner in Christchurch yesterday and demanded cigarettes and money.
Detective Sergeant David Parker said the man entered a dairy on Nancy Ave about 11.10am on Saturday wearing a black beanie and scarf and was carrying a black bag.
"The male has demanded cigarettes and money and left when he was given a small amount.
"The male was then seen getting into a maroon Ford sedan and driving off.
"Police would like to hear from anyone that was in the area and saw something or anyone that may know something about it."
