Two brave cops managed to rescue a disoriented man from his burning house before heading back into the blaze to check for children today.
Police said constables Jeffrey Brown and Jameson Asekona were outside the Glen Innes Police Station about 11.20am today when they noticed smoke coming from a home in nearby Taniwha St.
The officers called the fire service and then drove to the house and went inside to see if anyone needed help.
In the downstairs lounge, they found a disoriented man who was unaware his house was on fire, police said.
He was helped out by the officers, before both went back inside the two-storey house to make sure it was empty.
