Auckland's North Shore police want the public's help to track down a man who dragged a police officer across a service station forecourt with his car during an arrest attempt.
James Bernard Cummings was stopped by police on Wednesday at a service station in Albany.
Police said that as a male police officer attempted to arrest him, Cummings allegedly accelerated away in his car, dragging the officer across the forecourt when he was caught up in the car.
The officer was slightly hurt. Cummings was pursued a short distance before the chase was called off because of safety concerns.
The vehicle was abandoned off the Coatesville Riverhead Highway.
Police said anyone with knowledge of Cummings should call police.
A warrant had been issued for Cummings' arrest.
