Police officers are being offered counselling in the wake of the Napier siege.
The funeral for Senior Constable Len Snee is being held tomorrow after he was shot by gunman Jan Molenaar. Mr Snee's two colleagues and a civilian were injured and remain in Hawke's Bay Hospital.
Tales of heroic actions have been told about other police officers who helped two of the injured escape while under fire from Molenaar.
Police spokeswoman Kris McGehan says counsellors are on hand for any police officers who are struggling to cope with the tragedy.
People wanting to attend Mr Snee's funeral at the Napier Municipal Theatre are being urged to plan ahead as parking will be at a premium and a number of roads around the venue will be closed.
Seating inside the theatre will be limited, with areas reserved for family, friends, colleagues and VIPs.
The service, which starts at 1pm, will be relayed via a video link to television screens in the foyer and broadcast over a network of speakers outside.
