KEY POINTS:
Tauranga police are offering a $50,000 reward for information about a missing man who they believe was killed after a drug deal went wrong.
Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Turner said Waitakere man Grant Trevor Adams, 29, was last in seen in Tauranga in late 2005.
Police believed Mr Adams had been involved in making and selling methamphetamine, and had met with foul play after a "rip-off" over a methamphetamine drug operation.
The announcement today of the reward comes after an appeal this month for information.
Mr Turner said due to the publicity information had been received from the criminal fraternity which led police to believe Mr Adams had been murdered in the Bay of Plenty towards the end of 2005.
Mr Turner said the reward was payable for material information or evidence which led to the identity and conviction of any person or persons responsible for Mr Adams death.
Mr Adams was reported missing in April of 2006. He was commonly known among the criminal fraternity as Granite, he said.
Mr Turner said he hoped by offering a reward some members of the criminal fraternity would come forward with further evidence which would lead to the identification and apprehension of those responsible for Mr Adams' death.
Anyone with information about his death can call staff at the Tauranga Police on 07 577 4300, or 0800 SPEAKUP (0800 773 2587).
