KEY POINTS:
Police have named the woman whose body was found in Christchurch's Avon River yesterday.
She was 87-year-old Beatrice MacDonald Currie, of Christchurch.
Detective Senior Sergeant David Harvey said police had completed their investigation into her death and the matter had been referred to the Coroner.
Victoria Square in the central city was cordoned off yesterday after a member of the public found Ms Currie's body just after midday near the Town Hall.
