KEY POINTS:
Police have named a woman killed at Pukekohe in a suspected drink-drive crash on Friday night.
Tara Groenestein, 36, of Auckland, died when a car driven by a 39-year-old woman was believed to have run through an intersection and struck her vehicle.
Police last night confirmed that the family had been told alcohol was a factor in the crash.
Tara's sister Rachel Groenestein said she had no words for the driver of the other car. "I just want her to look me in the face and see the damage she has done. I don't want to say anything to her, she told the Herald on Sunday.
"She's shattered our lives. I've lost a sister and I'm just watching my parents suffer."
Tara's parents Felix, a Manukau City policy analyst, and mother Jill were initially told to go to Middlemore Hospital after their daughter had been involved in an accident.
Jill Groenestein told the newspaper her single, independent daughter, who worked as an office administrator for IRL Furniture Manufacturers in East Tamaki, lived for horses.
"She's been involved with horses forever. She got her first pony at 9."
Tara competed at the Clevedon A&P show last weekend with her new horse Hector and won several ribbons and was looking forward to a two-day showhunter event this weekend which she was organising and competing.
