KEY POINTS:
The woman who died when she as hit by a train in west Auckland yesterday was Hui Zhen Wang, 70.
Police said they initially had difficulty formally identifying the woman but tracked her family down through documents she carried.
The woman was killed when she stepped in front of a train about 12.55pm at Totara Ave, near the New Lynn train station.
An eye witness said the woman fell as she tried to run across the tracks in front of the train.
Police said the barrier arms were down, the alarm was sounding and the crossing lights were flashing.
