KEY POINTS:
Police have named the truck driver killed in a collision with a train at a South Canterbury crossing on Friday.
He was Patrick James McEntee, 46, of Christchurch.
Mr McEntee's cattle truck and a freight train collided at a crossing on Hawke Road in Orari, 13km north of Temuka, about midday Friday.
The engine and a number of wagons was derailed trapping the train driver in his cab.
A vet was called to destroy a number of injured animals.
