Police name Timaru stab victim

The man who died after being stabbed in Timaru yesterday has been named by police.

He was Tony Francis Crammond, a 44-year-old local man.

Police were called to a house in the suburb of Marchwiel about 6.50pm.

Mr Crammond was taken to Timaru Public Hospital but died a short time later.

Police had spoken to those who were present when the incident occurred. No one has been arrested.

A post-mortem examination was carried out this afternoon and Mr Crammond's body was to be released to his family.

Police and an Environmental Science and Research (ESR) investigator would continue an examination of the scene tomorrow.
