Police name teen driver killed in collision with van

Police have released the name of a 17-year-old driver killed when his car and a van collided near Whakatane yesterday.

He was Aaron Ashley Dent of Whakatane.

Mr Dent had been travelling to Whakatane from Ohope when his Toyota Corolla and a van collided on a bend on Ohope Rd at Hillcrest Cemetery just before 1pm.

The van driver, a 44-year-old man from Tirau, received minor injuries and has been discharged from Whakatane Hospital.
