Police this afternoon released the name of the student found dead at King's College in Otahuhu, south Auckland, yesterday.
He was William Richard Thode, 15, a student boarder at the school.
Police said further tests were being done to determine the cause of death and results should be available within the next two or three weeks.
Yesterday police said the death did not appear to be suspicious.
Police were called to the school about 7.20am yesterday after the boy could not be woken by staff in his Selwyn House dormitory.
Ambulance staff could not resuscitate him and police described it as a "tragic sudden death."
