KEY POINTS:
Police have named the Taiwanese student who died today in Waikato Hospital after being hit by a tree on Wednesday.
She was Huei Ching Cheng, aged 20, a university student.
She had been in a critical condition since the accident in which a tree estimated to weigh up to five tonnes fell on her while she was walking on Ruakura Road during heavy winds.
It is understood a life support system was turned off in Waikato Hospital about 9am today.
Her parents were with her after a mercy dash from Taiwan yesterday.
