The formal identification process relating to a pedestrian death at Waharoa overnight has been completed and police can now release the victim's name.
He was John Mati Ford, a 20-year-old labourer from Waharoa.
Waikato Serious Crash Unit investigators have carried out an initial examination of the scene on Waharoa West Road.
The accident scene was adjacent to a speed zone change from 50km/h to 100km/h about 500m north of Rawhiti Rd.
Police are appealing for any information on someone stumbling along or lying on Waharoa West Rd about 9pm.
