A man was killed when he was struck by a milk tanker near Te Puke last night.
Police said the 44-year-old pedestrian was struck by a milk tanker as he was walking along State Highway 2, Paengaroa, near Te Puke.
A man who was killed when he was struck by a milk tanker near Te Puke last night has been named.
He was Alexander Trevor Forbes Taiatini, 44, of Te Puke.
Mr Taiatini was struck by the milk tanker as he was walking along State Highway 2, Paengaroa, near TePuke just before 8pm last night, police said.
Mr Taiatini was walking with a friend, who was not hit by the tanker. The driver of the tanker was severely shaken but not injured, police said.
Early indications suggested alcohol might have been a contributing factor in the crash, police said.
The scene of the accident between Te Puke Highway and Wilson Road South was closed for three hours as police conducted a scene examination.
