Police have released the names of two people who were killed when their car collided with a truck near Ettrick in Central Otago on Sunday.
Liane Rose Wedlock, also known as Liane Rose MacDonald, aged 39, and Ross James Bottle, 48, both of Chatto Creek, Omakau, died at the crash scene after the Toyota Camry stationwagon they were in collided with a heavy truck on State Highway 8 between Ettrick and Roxburgh.
Sergeant Andrew Reed, of Alexandra police, said it appeared the northbound Toyota had drifted across the centre line and collided with the truck travelling south about 3.45pm.
The truck driver suffered minor leg injuries.
Police investigations were continuing, with a report to be prepared for a coroner's inquest.
The pair were among four killed in road crashes last weekend.
