Police have confirmed that a 66-year-old man found dead in his Napier home yesterday died of head injuries, but still can not say if his death was suspicious.
James David Elliott was found yesterday at his Bluff Hill house by a family member who had regular contact with him.
He lived alone and was last seen alive by friends on Sunday afternoon.
Post mortem results have indicated that Mr Elliott died as a result of head injuries but police say they can't confirm whether his death was suspicious or not at this stage.
"CIB and ESR staff will be doing a full scene examination of Mr Elliott's house to try to establish the circumstances that led to his death," said Detective Senior Sergeant Dave de Lange.
