A motorcyclist who died in Upper Hutt on Wednesday has been named by police as 37-year-old Koro Robin Peachey of Wainuiomata.
Police said Peachey failed to take a slight right-hand bend while travelling south on Fergusson Drive and lost control of the motorcycle before colliding with a pole.
It appears excessive speed in a 50km/h area was a contributing factor to the crash, police added. Investigations are continuing.
