Kaitaia police have named a diver who disappeared while gathering shellfish at the southern end of Ninety Mile Beach last week.
He was Shane Kelly, 53, a local man from Ahipara, who was said to be an experienced diver.
Family and friends were searching the shoreline yesterday.
