Police name men killed in Wairarapa crash

The two men killed yesterday when a stock crate fell off a truck and crushed their van were Gregory Burgess, 36, of Carterton, and Michael Murray, 36, of Greytown.

Sergeant Kevin Tunnell of South Wairarapa police said the truck was trying to negotiate a corner when its trailer unit tipped, flattening the van which was parked on the side of Western Lake Road in southern Wairarapa.

The men were killed instantly.

A crane was needed to life the trailer unit off the van.
