Police name man whose body was found on West Coast beach

Police have named the man whose body was found washed up on Carters Beach on Friday.

He was Patrick Joseph Loader, 55, a civil engineer. Mr Loader was married with three daughters.

A search of Westport and surrounding areas began after he failed to return from an early-morning walk on Thursday.

A member of the public found his body on Carters Beach, about 5km from Westport, on Friday morning.
