Police have named a man whose charred body was pulled from a burned-out vehicle near Motueka, northwest of Nelson yesterday and say his death was not suspicious.
He was Rawiri Manu Naish, 34, previously from Dunedin and in the area for seasonal work.
His death was not suspicious and had been referred to the coroner, police said today.
Mr Naish's body was found in a four-door sedan at Baigent's Reserve on the tip of Kina Peninsula, 13km southeast of Motueka, by a local dog walker early yesterday.
An autopsy was carried out yesterday afternoon.
Senior Sergeant Grant Andrews of Motueka Police said police identified Mr Naish yesterday and contacted his family members in Dunedin.
